dc.descriptionThis paper examined the problem hindering effective university administration in Nigeria. The paper depend on secondary data. The secondary data were collected from online and print publications. The paper concluded that poor funding, shortage of infrastructure facilities, shortage of academic staff, lack of autonomy, integration of the universities into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), inadequate current data, political influence, weak universities’ Administrators, insecurity, strikes actions, Brain-drain, corruption and policy instability are the problems facing the university administration in Nigeria. Based on these problems, the paper hereby recommended the following: increment in the funding of universities education; provision of adequate infrastructural facilities; employment of more academic staff and the government should grant full autonomy, remove all the universities from Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS); and ensure that current data are generated timely in the tertiary institution especially in the universities etc.en-US
