It is an advance education that deals with training and human capital development through teaching, researching and community services. Tertiary education offer a lot of advance programme such as sciences education, social science education and art education. The teaching and learning of science education in Nigeria is facing a lot of challenges. This paper discussed the challenges. The paper among other things discussed the concept of tertiary institutions, concept of science programme and challenge facing teaching and learning of science education in the Nigerian tertiary institutions and recommendation were given.en-US
