This article aims to investigate the importance of verbs in German phraseology. In the formation of phraseological units different parts of speech have their own characteristic features; especially verbs play a significant role in forming units in phraseology. The derivation of phrases has an influence on their structure thus leads to the creation of new phraseological units in a language.
