Nigerian higher education is the largest in Africa. The Nigerian higher education ought to be among the best in Africa and in the world at large. It is unfortunate that the Nigerian higher education is still struggling with the internationalization. Many higher institutions in Nigeria, especially the universities, are not well recognized across the globe due to many challenges. This paper examined the problems hindering internationalization of Nigerian higher education.  The paper employed secondary and primary data. The data were sourced from print and online resources. Inadequate funding, non-defined internationalization policies, insecurity problem, admission procedures, recruitment policies, poor infrastructural facilities, unstable academic calendar due to industrial/strike actions, academic corruption, unattractive salaries, ineffective administrative and management model, inadequate higher institutions and inadequate academic staff were identified as problems that hindered internationalization of Nigerian higher education. The paper suggested some measures to tackle the problems identified.
