Education Economics is one of the programmes Nigerian tertiary institutions are offering in the faculty of education and at the department of education. Education Economics programme is also offered at the master level and PhD level. The programme is very important to the social, economic and political development of the country. It is unfortunate, that this programme is facingmany challenges. This paper discussed the problems facing the administration of Education Economics in Nigerian tertiary education. To achieve this, the writers, employed the use of secondary data to support the various points raised in the paper. The secondary data were sourced from the print materials and online publications. Inadequate funding, shortage of Education Economics lecturers, inadequate instructional materials, inadequate infrastructural facilities, corruption, brain-drain, strike actions and negative attitude of students towards studying of Education Economics were identified as the problems facing the administration of Education Economics in Nigerian tertiary education. To, address these problems, the writers recommended:adequate funding, employment of more Education Economics lecturers, provision of more infrastructural facilities, provision of adequate instructional materials, implementation of all agreements reached with different unions in the higher institutions, Education Economics lecturers and students should be motivated to study Education Economics in the Nigerian higher institutions.
