Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (hereinafter referred to as UMSIDA) with its motto "From Here Enlightenment Blossoms" is one of the private universities in East Java which is committed to becoming one of the superior and innovative tertiary institutions in developing science and technology based on Islamic values for the welfare of society where UMSIDA is the center enlightenment through the development of human resources that are oriented towards faith, knowledge, and charity as well as the development of intellectual traditions to create a progressive society. UMSIDA will continue to play an active role in the national development process by producing graduates who are competent and professional in their fields, mastering science and technology based on faith and noble values. The hope is that they become independent, broad-minded, aware of its existence and beneficial to the people of Indonesia, and sincere and serious in carrying out the duties of amar ma'ruf nahi munkar. To achieve this goal, UMSIDA then carried out the Higher Education Catur Dharma which included education and teaching, research, community service, and al-Islam and Muhammadiyah development.
